Besides pride, loyalty, discipline, heart, and mind, confidence is the key to all the locks.

How do they reveal or explain two sides of your theme concept.
For my first quote the author, Joe Paterno explains that to solve all of lifes problems confidence is the key in doing so. When someone is unconfident their troubles will go unsolved until they gain the confidence needed to overcome their conflict. This helps to explain the first side of my tapestry which is Confidence.
The three texts that I can relate to the quote by Joe Paterno are...

One text that I can relate to is, "Just Lather, Thats All'"by Hernado Tellez. I can make a connection from the short piece we read in class to the quote by Joe Paterno because in the story there are too main characters, Captain Torres and the Barber. Captain Torres has set out to kill all the rebels. He one day finds himself being shaved by a rebel (the barber). The barber has too choose, one is to kill Captain Torres and save all the rebels, or he can let him go jeopardizing the life of his fellow rebels. The barber gains the confidence needed to set Captain Torres home safely with a cleaned beard. Captain Torres later reveals that killing isn't easy and the barber made the right decision on setting him free, thus resolving his problem.
The second connection I can make is to the novel "Night" by Elie Wiesel. In this book a young man is sent into a concentration camp. The young man has seen inhuman like actions in the camp, knowing that next time he wakes up it might be his last day. The young man fights the mental and physical pain of the camp and gains the confidence to survive one of the most inhuman revelations the world has ever seen.
The third connection I can make is to the show "Criminal Minds". In the show a team of FBI agents are called in to help solve unsolved cases. The team is very confident in what they do and as a result they almost always solve the case and catch the bad guy. This relates back to the quote by Joe Paterno because the cases would have went unsolved if it wasn’t for the confidence of the team.

Early in my career I was accused of being overconfident and even cocky, but I really was confident that I had done the training and didn't see any other reason to say otherwise. Alberto Salazar
This quote gives a excellent example of someone being overconfident. It states that working hard and pushing yourself can give you the opportunity to think very highly of yourself.
How do they reveal or explain two sides of your theme concept
In my quote the author Alberto Salazar is explaining that it’s ok to be overconfident if you can back up your statement. On the other hand, he is also stating that people who are under confident might not have the training needed to become confident in their job or in other situations.
The Three texts that I can relate to this quote is...
One show that I can relate to in this quote is "Storage Wars". In this show people bid on lockers and the person with the highest bid gets the locker. One character, Dave Hester is an overconfident business man. He believes that he is the best bidder out there because he has the knowledge on what lockers are the best. This is very similar to what Alberto was stating in his quote.
I can also relate this quote back to the novel "Night". For a brief few pages Ellie talks very little about an overconfident general who states that Ellie will die in this concentration camp. The generals words to the Jewish people are" You will die here" this shows that the general is overconfident and is sure that thousands more will die in this concentration camp.
The third connection I can make to this quote is also from "Just lather, Thats all " by Hernando Tellz. The person I believe to be overconfident is Captain Torres. He walks into the barber shop knowing that if anyone in the whole village would kill him it would be the barber. At the end of the story he reveals that he knew the barber didn’t have it in him to kill him showing a little bit of cockiness and overconfidence.
This is a great start Nolan. You have some good ideas for texts to relate to your theme - confidence. Go back to your post and ensure that you have put book and movie titles in italics and " " around short stories.
